How To Create Your Own Custom Header For WordPress

Okay, I am finished with building or customizing my websites themes for a while. I thought it was time to move back to WordPress and the TwentyFourteen theme. The first thing I wanted to do was build my own custom header image for my website. As soon as I was finished with everything I decided to post up a quick “How To” video about making a neat looking header image with Photoshop.

So, in this video I talk about building a header and then uploading it to your website.

It’s pretty simple for most of us that are used to WordPress but this video is more for the people that are new to this free and open source blogging tool/CMS.

Before you can get started there are a few things you will need. First you need to buy or download the trial of Photoshop.

Or gimp because it’s free! http://www.gimp.org/

If you are using Photoshop then the next step is that you should find a nice set of Photoshop brushes. If you want you can take a look at some of the custom brushes that I have posted to this website.

Now you can pretty much build that custom header in about 10 or 20 minutes!

Below is a sample PSD that you can use with Photoshop. Just download the file and them open in Photoshop The image settings are the same as the header on my website.

Good luck! If you have any questions or comments you can post a comment below or shoot me an email. I will do my best to help!
